U16 Girls: Div1: Colemanstown Utd 2–5 Moyne Villa. Colemanstown Utd faced a tough challenge at home to Moyne Villa on Thursday evening in the first of two quick-fire fixtures. The visitors struck twice from distance in the first half, which left Niamh Lally with little chance in goal & gave us a 2–0 deficit at the break. Matters became more difficult early in the second half as Moyne Villa extended their lead to 3-0. To their credit, Colemanstown showed great spirit to fight back into contention. Leah Hansberry pulled a goal back before Ella Hansberry netted her first for the club soon after. The goals injected real belief into the girls. However, Moyne Villa responded strongly & added two further goals to seal a deserved victory for them. Despite the result, there were standout performances from Eimear Schwitalla, Leah Hansberry & Emma Collins who all impressed in attack. Match Report: Niall Rohan
U16 Girls: Div1: Knocknacarra ‘B’ 2–2 Colemanstown. Colemanstown made the trip to face Knocknacarra ‘B’ on Sunday. It was the hosts who made a fast start & capitalised early to take the lead. Despite chances for Emma Collins & Shauna McDonagh, Colemanstown couldn’t find a breakthrough & Knocknacarra doubled their advantage before halftime. The 2nd half saw a transformed Colemanstown side emerge, full of energy & determination. Leah Hansberry continued her outstanding season with two well-taken goals to bring the game level. Colemanstown pushed hard for a winner & came agonisingly close when Ruth Burke unleashed a stunning 25yard strike that crashed off the crossbar. In the end, both sides had to settle for a share of the spoils in a hard fought & entertaining 2–2 draw. Match Report: Niall Rohan
