Colemanstown U12 Girls maintain recent form

Colemanstown U12 Girls 4 – 1 Maree-Oranmore B Div 1 /2 Cup
Colemanstown U12 girls were drawn against Maree/Oranmore B in the Division 1/2 cup on a cold and wet Sunday morning. Despite the elements a strong squad assembled for this 1st round fixture. Oranmore started on top with a couple of half chances keeping Lucy Butler in goal on her toes. Some great work in midfield from Tara Dillon and Shauna McDonagh got Colemanstown back dominating possession after 10 minutes. They pushed on from there and with 15 minutes gone a great ball through from Grace Connolly at the back found Maddie Rohan who slotted it to the back of the net.

It was one-way traffic from here till half time with Emily Rohan adding a second after some sublime footwork and a classy finish. Colemanstown never looked back and after 5 minutes of the 2nd half a great passage of play involving Tia Loughlane, Aoife Morris and Muireann Roche led to Emily Rohan scoring her 2nd. Emma Collins, Niamh Lally, Ailbhe Burke and Evelyn McDonnell all worked tirelessly in the build up to Ciara Somers putting the icing on the cake with her 4th goal of the season. Oranmore-Maree pulled back a consolation goal late on but it was too little too late. The win now sees Colemanstown advance to round 2 to face Bearna na Forbacha in a few weeks time.

Colemanstown U12 Girls 3 – 1 Kiltullagh (League)
Our 4th League game of the season saw the girls travel to Kiltullagh Astro to take on the home side on a bright and mild winters morning on Sunday last. With both teams hovering mid table this was always going to be a close game. Lisa Curran started made her competitive debut for the club and settled right in getting on the ball in the early stages. The back 3 of Grace Connolly, Muireann Roche and Emma Collins soaked up some early pressure from Kiltullagh. Lucy Butler was also called upon coming off her line expertly to make some brave saves. Colemanstown finally found 2nd gear 15 minutes in with a well worked goal and finish from Niamh Lally. Superb build up play involving Emma Collins and Maddie Rohan found Ciara Somers down the left wing. Ciara then showed unreal skill, pace and composure to place a pinpoint pass to Niamh Lally who drilled it home.

Emily Rohan and Aoife Morris were introduced 20 mins in and immediately made an impact with Emily driving home our 2nd after a loose ball in the Kiltullagh box. Credit must go to Kiltullagh who started the 2nd half on the best foot testing a solid Lucy Butler numerous times but couldn’t find the net. Lucy’s courage and commitment in getting down for a few low shots on the astro was evident with some band aids being required for some cut up knees. The home side pulled one back with 10 mins remaining leaving a nervous finish to the game for Colemanstown. Emily Rohan put the game to bed and put a good turnout of travelling supporters at ease with  a trademark run from 20 yards and finishing to the keeper’s right. Another great performance from this bunch of U12 Girls with this win keeping them in with a shout for Division 1 honours. Next up is Corrib Rangers in the league in 2 weeks time.  Match reports by Niall Rohan
