Colemanstown United returned to the top of the table tonight with a convincing 3–0 home win over Kiltullagh Pioneers, producing a disciplined and controlled performance from start to finish. Colemanstown made the perfect start, taking the lead inside the opening 30 seconds. Sharp link-up play between Kevin Barrett and Jonah Donnellan opened space on the left, allowing Tomas Carr to burst past the full-back with his pace before finishing calmly from close range. The early pressure continued, and Colemanstown doubled their lead 10 mins later. Once again, Carr beat his marker on the left and delivered a dangerous low cross. After a couple of deflections in the box, the ball ricocheted off Tomas Flannery and found its way into the net for 2–0. For the remainder of the half, Colemanstown controlled possession and dictated the tempo. While chances were limited, they looked comfortable and well in command as Kiltullagh struggled to create any meaningful opportunities.
Colemanstown started the second half brightly with a few half-chances but nothing clear-cut. On the hour mark, the team introduced Thomas Mellody, Kerrill Hardiman, and Alan Finn, adding fresh energy to the side. Shortly after the changes, Kiltullagh were awarded a penalty following a challenge by Richard Lally on the Pioneers’ striker. However, Damien Wynne, stepped in for the injured Alan Finn Junior & produced a superb save to deny the striker from the spot and preserve the clean sheet. The momentum swung firmly back to Colemanstown, and with 15 minutes remaining, they added a third. After winning a free kick 25 yards out, Tomas Flannery struck an exceptional effort that curled beyond the goalkeeper and into the top corner. Late introductions of David Walsh and Eanna Burke helped Colemanstown manage the closing stages professionally as they saw out the game with confidence and control.
