Wynne’s goal helps Colemanstown creep towards the top

On Sunday morning last Colemanstown looked to get back to winning ways on home turf following a recent couple of poor results and with a fantastic team goal they did just that. “As good a goal you’ll get” was the quote from the man himself, GM, after the game as both he and the team left smiling on Sunday afternoon. It took a little over an hour for the goal but for any viewing spectator it was worth the wait. The first half was a scrappy and disjointed affair and was just lacking that little bit of intensity. Colemanstown’s back four of Jason Finn, Ollie Crowe, Garry O Grady and Kenny Duane were solid while Joe Flannery did his best to keep it scoreless at halftime. In the second period a long ball from Jason Finn and some quick thinking from Conor Jackson to let the ball run to the on rushing Alan Finn who provided a sublime cross from the touch line to the head of Damian Wynne. The superb Wynne sent his header back across the goal to beat the MacDara keeper. Johnny Lally’s inclusion late on in the game almost resulted in the home side doubling their advantage but as he lost his footing the home side lost their chance. Nevertheless, as the final whistle sounded it was music to Moran’s ears as Colemanstown moved up to within a point of the lead.
