U14’s battle not good enough

Colemanstown’s u14’s started this most recent league game against Knocknacarra the sharper, hungrier and far more threatening side. Geordan Kenny had the ball in the net after 5mins but unfortunately the goal was disallowed for a close off-side call. Both sides had decent chances but it was Knocknacarra who were rewarded on the stroke of half time when they got a fortuitous goal against the run of play. In the 2nd half Mossy ‘Chicharito’ Carr was influential and created a number of opportunities for both Josh Lane and debutant Eoin Naughton but on the day, things simply didn’t go their way. Colemanstown’s best effort to level matters fell to our newcomer, the aforementioned Naughton, who missed a sitter with 10mins to go when he squandered his chance in front of an empty goal. On the day Steven Kelly, yet again, had to be admired in goal, the 2 Jacks, Kennedy & Hughes were influential, while Shane Lally, Josh Lane & Eoin Naughton tried hardest in a game which they opened impressively but yet failed to get any result.
