U13’s lose despite lions share

If possession is nine-tenths of the law, then our u13 team should have had at least a share of the spoils against Corofin away this evening. But instead they lost their latest league encounter 2-0 to Corofin, who look to be runaway Div1 winners currently in 2nd place with 4 games in hand. A goal in each half was enough for Corofin; they took their chances, we failed to take ours – this was the difference between the sides. There was absolutely nothing in the world that Jason Connolly could do to keep out the hosts first half goal. Conor Moran had our best chance of the half when he was clean through one-on-one with the keeper but blasted wide. Midway through the 2nd half Corofin scored their second but Colemanstown rallied in the knowledge that the game was still within their grasp. Ryan Noone’s effort was just above the crossbar; Conor Moran’s free kick was cleared off the line while Ryan Noone again in the last few minutes hit the inside of the post while the ball rebounded straight into the keepers clutches. So the gulf in class between the best team in the league and our boys was not as evident as one might think. 2-0 Final score. Squad: Jason Connolly, Anthony Feeney, Daragh Roche, Dara Hansberry, Michael Ryan, Eoin Concannon, Conor Byron, Sean Hansberry, Michael Flattery, Ryan Noone, Conor Moran, Josh McGuire-Greaney, Aidan Hansberry, Liam Gormally, Michael Concannon, & Darragh Diskin.
