U12’s roll to 6-1 win

Yesterday evening saw the sun shine and so did our u12’s with a comfortable 6-1 win over city side OLBC. Colemanstown started brightly and found themselves a goal up within 10mins when Shane Burke made no mistake on the second time of asking as he calmly steered his shot over the keepers head. Colemanstown were looking comfortable when Kellie Brennan who was back for a rare Colemanstown start, added a second when she bundled the ball over the line after great work from Jason Keane. Kellie got the credit for the goal but Jason did a lot of the donkey work to ensure the ball scrambled over the line. The continuously dangerous Luke Mitchell slammed home a classic half volley to score his first goal of the season so Colemanstown went in at the break 3-0 to the good. After the restart, Colemanstown kept growing in confidence as the game progressed. Thady Moran, Aaron Molloy & Luke Mitchell gained full control in midfield and helped to keep the visitors in their own half for long periods of the game. Colemanstown made a few positional changes moving keeper Jason Fahy out field and moving Ethan Lally in to goals and also introduced Kyle McGuire Greaney, Evan Waldron, Emma Callanan & Mika Harun. OLBC got one back when Colemanstown were caught on the break as they continued to press forward in search of more goals. Kellie Brennan and Jason Fahy killed off any hope of an OLBC fightback with two thundering headers in quick succession. Both goals were identical coming from Thady Moran corners which rocketed off the crossbar and over the line. Mika Harun forced another goal over the line at the end in another goalmouth scramble. Colemanstown always looked dangerous throughout this game. Shane Burke had some dynamic runs on the wing while Jason Keane on the other wing was steady all through assisting his defenders, Ethan Lally & Josh Brennan who as ever were rock solid all through. Aaron Molloy, Thady Moran & Luke Mitchell steadied the team well in the middle of the park and were outstanding in a great team performance. Kellie Brennan added 2 more goals to bring her season tally to 11 and that’s with missing 3 games which clashed with u12 Galway girls trials. She’s well in line for the golden boot accolade in the club this year! U12’s play their last game of the season, tomorrow Saturday morning at 9.30am when they take on Corrib Celtic at home. Well done to the lads and the management team. Meanwhile our B team conceded 2 goals in the last 5 mins to lose 4-2 in their league tie against Cregmore/Claregalway this evening. Earlier goals from Steven Broderick and Adrian Burke from the penalty spot seemed to be enough for a share of the spoils and what appeared to be a fair enough result. But then keeper Thomas Broderick gave away a penalty which was converted and got a second yellow card in the process and Cregmore somehow poked a 4th over the line right at the death as the B team’s woes still continue.
