U11 Action from Tuam

There was a poor showing from our u-11 team as only 10 lads showed up to play Tuam Celtic and 6 year old Kyle Concannon & 7 year old Jonah Donnellan had to tog to make up the numbers. Everyone got a run out and that’s what’s important at this age. We fielded 2 No. 5-a-side teams who played 2 games each. The 4 games were a tribute to both clubs and were played in a great spirit with everyone giving 100% effort.

Team 1: Dara Roche in goals with Jonah Donnellan, Eoin Concannon, Sean Hansberry & Kyle Concannon outfield. They came from 5-3 down to win 7-5 with Eoin Concannon in great shooting form scoring 3, Sean Hansberry (2) and Jonah Donnellan (2). Dara Roche was in superb form in goals with every sort of a save imagineable plus a couple of double saves thrown in for good measure. Eoin Concannon, Jonah Donnellan & Sean Hansberry provided the firing power while credit has to go to 6 year old Kyle Concannon who was fearless against lads almost double his age. He really proved that height doesn’t matter when you have the skill. Team 1 also won their second game 7-5 as Sean Hansberry, Jonah Donnellan & Eoin Concannon were again the scorers. Sean Hansberry covered every blade on this fine astro turf facility and was the engine of the team, tracking back and surging forward on every opportunity.

Team 2 fielded Kalum Concannon in goals with Clara Keane, a resolute defender. Mark Donnellan, Conor Moran & Anthony Feeney  were the outfielders. In their first game Mark Donnellan laid down a marker of things to come with an early goal within seconds which helped this team to an 8-6 win. Conor Moran & Anthony Feeney  got 6 between them and played exceptionally well moving to different defensive positions throughout the game. Mark Donnellan scored the 8th, his second of the day.  The lads continued to dominate in their second game, albeit this one was a tighter affair finishing 6-5 to the boys in green. Conor Moran who was the engine of this team, scored 2 in the game while everyone else also played their part. There were many highlights in the match which included some outstanding play by Clara Keane in defence and Kalum Concannon in the Colemanstown goals.

Our U13’s also played early morning when they took on Loughrea in a challenge. Everyone graced the field as debutant Cian Murphy scored the sole goal in a 1-0 win.
