Footgolf is coming to Colemanstown……have you heard of it? It is a relatively new sport, extremely popular in the States and the European Continent and can really be played anywhere so we’re going to try it in Colemanstown. Colemanstown Utd Ladies FC are getting together to organise this novelty fundraising event on Saturday 25th May. A 9-hole footgolf course (similar to golf course but with bigger holes to fit a football!!) will be set up in the field beside the soccer pitch across from Burkes. Groups of 3 will play individual rounds with the winner getting around the 9 holes in the least number of shots. There will be a men and women’s competition and prizes for longest drive (longest kick off the tee) and nearest the pin. Most rules correspond with the rules in golf but the river in Frank’s field will have to be avoided or else we’ll need a few swimmers as well as ‘footgolfers’. If anyone feels like getting dressed up, there will be a prize for best golf attire. It is hoped to run the competition throughout the day so register early to get your tee off time. The event should attract golfers, footballers, fun lovers, friends, supporters, members, players of the club and above all those who are simply out for the craic and a day filled with excitement. Sponsorship is also being sought for each tee box and each flag so if any businesses would like their name advertised on the course and in the scorecard let any of the ladies know.
