Footgolf – Update on course design & development

The landscape around Colemanstown, namely the field adjacent to Colemanstown United Club house or to put it another way the field directly across from Burke’s pub, is currently a hive of activity as it undergoes a dramatic change.  The Design and Development Team have moved in to commence preparation work on the Footgolf course and convert this once green field to a top class 9 hole Footgolf Coure.  All this work is being undertaken by spade and shovel and is a hard graft for the course design team. A team of engineers are currently undertaking a feasibility study to see if it’s viable to make a temporary footbridge to cross the river to facilitate play on the day. This new phenomenon is generating a lot of interest in the local and surrounding areas with people looking forward to Saturday 25th May, ‘Footgolf Day’. Groups of 3 will play individual rounds with the winner getting around the 9 holes in the least number of shots. There will be a male & female competition and prizes for longest drive and nearest the pin.  Most rules correspond with the rules in golf but adjusted slightly to reflect the uniqueness of this Footgolf Tournament. For those Footgolf enthusiasts who feel like getting dressed up on the day, there is a prize for best golf attire. As this competition will be run throughout the day please remember once you have purchased your ticket for €10 from any member of the Ladies Soccer Team or Committee Member to please phone 087 7637865 to get your tee off time.  People turning up on the day with no pre arranged tee times will be assigned to what ever free Tee Slots are available (if any).  Prize giving will take place on the night in Burke’s Lounge, Colemanstown. It promises to be a fun, spectacular and above all unique event so let it not be said that you didn’t participate in the first Footgolf tournament in the County and maybe even in the country. Don’t delay, get your tickets now. A big Thank You to all the local businesses who have kindly committed to sponsorship to date.  If there is any business out there who would like to be associated with this event please do not hesitate to contact the Club. – full details on our website. All businesses who have kindly sponsored a Tee Box will be advertised on the course and in the scorecard. Looking forward to a great day out on Saturday May 25th and most importantly please remember once you have purchased your ticket to phone 087 7637865 to get your tee off time.
