Is Colemanstown ready for the upcoming Footgolf Tournament? “Is Feidir Linn” so roll on Saturday 25th May. The brain wave of Ross Sullivan and Patricia Burke, talked about originally on a night out and hashed out over a few pints in the local has now born fruition. This is really a case of a dream becoming a reality thanks to the hard work of all the volunteers and members of the ladies soccer team who turned out in abundance last Saturday evening to lend a helping hand to prepare the course. As Christy Moore sang “don’t forget your shovel if you want to go to work” and this could not have been more apt as the hard working volunteers set about with shovel and spade digging the holes, while others were busy with hammer, saw and paint all working together putting the finishing touches to this top class 9 hole Footgolf course. So in reality our ‘footgolf’ course in Colemanstown is coming along nicely with thanks to all involved. A big thanks to Frank and Bernie Burke who have kindly given the soccer club the use of their field adjacent to their property and allowed it to be transformed to a Footgolf green to host the first ever ‘Footgolf Tournament’ to be held both near or far. We wish to express a big thank you to the Design Team who have spent a huge amount of time over the last few weeks, walking, measuring, designing, amending the design and testing the course to make sure all is up to ‘par’ – excuse the pun! Sincere thanks as well to the Ladies Soccer Team, members of the Finance Committee and local community members who have been working tremendously hard in the background promoting the event in every way possible to ensure that no stone is left unturned in a bid to make this event as successful, enjoyable and unique as possible. One of the challenging parts of fundraising for any club or organisation is coming up with a creative idea that will motivate the troops, but boy have they done just that! Tickets are currently selling extremely fast so to avoid disappointment get your ticket and tee time as soon as possible.
