Debutant Lally’s goal not enough in 1st game of season

Johnny Lally took only 10 mins to make his mark on his junior league debut for Colemanstown when he found the net early on after the ball broke nicely across the box & the youngster was on hand to strike a half volley and beat the stretching keeper. Tuam Celtic equalised 8 mins later following a flick on header which broke to the centre forward who made no mistake. Minutes later Tuam scored another when a short free kick was intercepted by Tuam, played through to their striker who chipped Joe Flannery in the Colemanstown goal. Tuam’s 3rd goal before the break resulted from a deflected clearance. Chances fell to John Keely(2), John O’Brien & Garry O’Grady for Colemanstown but their chances were squandered. The 2nd half was a dull affair with few opportunities to either side. In the end Tuam held out for a 3-1 win and for our management team of Garry O’Grady & Gerry Moran it was a gentle reminder that there is much work and re-building to do before Colemanstown re-emerge as a potent force.
