Colemanstown’s demise against Salthill

Our A team were in league action against Salthill Devon in Drom yesterday in what was a closely contested first half only! But the issue was well settled by 90mins as Salthill held the upper hand for the entire 2nd half and Colemanstown were unable to launch a mini revival.  Colemanstown started well and opened the scoring on 10mins as Gelstons long kick out beat the defence and Squelchy ran onto it, only to be mauled in the area. Flan confidently converted the ensuing penalty to put us 1-0 up. Squelchy had another gifted chance when Paddy Mullins crossed from the left but he mis-hit his volley only to see his effort blaze high and not all that handsome. 5 mins before the break, Salthill levelled from a free kick to leave the sides level, 1-1 at the break. The first half was an ebb & flow kinda game displayed by both teams but the 2nd belonged totally to the home side as Salthill bossed the entire 2nd half leaving Colemanstown with no clear cut chance in what was a lethargic 2nd half performance by the boys in green. We hope for better luck on Sunday when they host Loughrea at 11am at home.

Meanwhile our U11’s also fell under the Salthill spell on Saturday in Colemanstown in the U11 Development league. A more superior Salthill outfit outclassed our boys but everyone got to taste the action and this is what’s most important at this age group. Thanks also to mentors Robbie, Jayo, Gareth & Ronan.
