Colemanstown U12 Girls 6 – 0 Merlin Woods/ Medtronic

Colemanstown U12 girls played their latest league match in Colemanstown on Sat 26th of Mar against Merlin Park/ Medtronic missing their usual goalie due to COVID.  Prior to first whistle by ref Michael Walsh Leah O Connor was named captain and as in true form played a blinder from the back throughout the whole match.

The first half seen an equal footing with both team’s possession of the ball yet Colemanstown had more attempts on goal due to the unstoppable mid -section of Lily Kirby, Della Griffin and Chloe Flynn resulting in 2 goals by Chloe Flynn within the first half coming from a solo play from mid field and straight into the goal. Not to be bested in any way Lily Kirby stuck the ball into the back of the net after a sweet pass from Rachel Kennedy in the 25th minute.

The forward line up of Rachel Kennedy and Roisin Keague did not disappoint with numerous accurate attempts on goal across the first half with Rosin Keague finally succeeding in the 15th minute. Rachel Kennedy’s accurate passing and fancy footwork left the defenders of Merlin Park Medtronic constantly on their toes.

The defence trio of Meabh Mitchell, Leah O Connor and Aishling Ruane showed excellent teamwork and skill by not letting any ball past the ¾ line. The fearless goalie Ruby Lynch saved all attempts on goal throughout the first half of the game.

Colemanstown headed into the 2nd half 4-0 ahead.

On return to the pitch and a change to the squad of Catherine Irwin and Rosin Ruane in backs, Liliana King in forwards and Roisin O Dea in midfield. Colemanstown held possession of the ball from tip-off.

Excellent teamwork was witnessed in the 2nd half by mid fielders Lilianna King, Lily Kirby and Chloe Flynn resulting in the 4th hattrick for superstar Chloe Flynn in the 45th minute and Lily Kirby’s impressive strike found the left hand side of the net in the 50th minute. These goals were supported by Lilianna King and Roisin O Dea who seemed to be everywhere looking for possession of the ball or passing out to other midfielders in the direction of the goal. A great second half was had by defender Rosin Ruane who did not let 1 ball by her and never gave up.

The Ref finally blew his whistle for the end of the match. 6-0 to Colemanstown following a superb Colemanstown performance.
