Colemanstown Gears up for 10k Run 2011

PLANS are currently underway in the little hub of Colemanstown for the first ever 10k Road run. An enthusiastic and hard working committee have got together to organise this event which is an AAI recognised 10k loop road race scheduled for Easter Monday, April 25, commencing at 12 noon. The race which is chip timed by Red Tag Timing, is preceeded by a children’s 1k fun run at 11am with presentation of medals to each child that completes the course by county hurling star Cyril Donnellan and county camogie and All-Star award winner Niamh Kilkenny.

The route commences on the main Garbally-Colemanstown road, through Colemanstown village then loops around the area bringing runners back out onto the main Colemanstown-Garbally road to the finish line adjacent to the clubhouse in Colemanstown United Soccer grounds where showering and changing facilities will be available. The organising committee wish to thank Frank and Bernie Burke, Colemanstown who are sponsoring the overall cash prizes for the event. Presentation of the prizes will be made by veteran runner Willie Morris who has a strong association with the area.

Registrations will be taken on the day in the clubhouse at the soccer grounds while on line registrations are facilitated through www.runireland.com. Entry fee is €20 which includes a token gift for all participants.
