Joy for local lass in Ardrahan 10k

Sincere congrats to Catherine Burke who shattered her previous 10k PB by almost 2 mins to an all time personal best of 45:59 and thereby claim 3rd prize in the recent Ardrahan 10k run. In a field of 310 runners, Catherine paced herself splendidly in what was for her a thoroughly enjoyable and comfortable run. Running the race of her life she maintained pace with the cruising pack and didn’t realise she was 3rd lady home until she crossed the finish line much to her own amazement. Catherine was born into a family with a strong running tradition; her grand-uncle, the legendary Willie Morris won 4 NACA cross country titles in the 1950’s and had a distinctive running career. Catherine’s 1st cousin Gearoid Rohan continued to break the 40′ barrier again as he stormed home in a whopping 16th position overall in a time of 39:30 having previously set his PB at the Colemanstown 10k. Well done also to Michelle Doyle & Ellie Walsh who set themselves new 10k PB’s. Other locals to impress & do well were Tomas Ruane & Pat McDonagh….looking forward to seeing a few more crack the mythical 40′. Congrats also to Jacinta Fahy who was 1st local lady home. Sean is finding it easier to keep up with the ewe’s dropping than with Jacinta these days! Well done to all our local participants who took part in what was a well organised and enjoyable run and to all we say… Keep on Running…..
