Colemanstown 0: St Bernard’s 1
Our under 12’s suffered their first league defeat of the season and
certainly a share of the spoils would have been a more fair result.
Colemanstown started in lethargic fashion and the defense were under
severe pressure from an excellent footballing side. The 2nd half
started in better fashion for Colemanstown with Lee Murphy forcing
some excellent saves from the Bernard’s keeper while the eager Daniel
Masterson hit the woodwork. Bernards scored midway through the 2nd
half but Bobby Masterson’s charges made a huge bid to bounce back as
they were virtually camped in their opponents half & played 3 up front
in an attempt to force an equaliser. Midfielders Lorcan Molloy & Ronan
O’ Neill were in lively form & headed the Colemanstown onslaught in
search of the equaliser. It was not to be, however, as there was no
way through a solid Bernards rearguard.
Colemastown ‘B’ 3: Athenry 1
Veteran Andy Concannon was in splendid form for this Divisional Cup
Quaterfinal & provided the opener on 10 mins from close range. Adrian
Burke scored a rare goal shortly afterwards when his long range effort
bobbled over the line. Athenry got one back immediatley after the
kick off to leave it 2-1 at the interval. Andy Concannon’s
piledriver in the 2nd half provided some breathing space for
Colemanstown while Joe Finnerty, Stephen Broderick, & Barry Donnellan
squandered their opportunities. And so PC will be delighted to be in
a divisional Cup Semi final where they play Galway Bohs while Gary
Broderick will find it difficult to retain his position given his
birthday antics last weekend!
Our ‘A’ team bowed out of the Michael Byrne Cup with a 2-nil defeat to
Corrib Rangers.
Colemanstown 1: Salthill Devon 0
Our under 14 side put in a dynamic display against Salthill to win
1-0. Thomas Broderick was exceptional in goal while Chris Sheridan &
Daragh Kelly rarely put a foot wrong in centre back. Midfielders
Paddy Mullins, Andrea O Farrell, Liam Carty, Alan Fahy & Padrag Glynn
drove forward on every oipportunity while Jason Gannon & the superb
Johnny Lally were a joy to watch. Lally scored on 10 mins for a great
individual goal. It was a great, committed performance & Colemanstown
held out for a well deserved win
