U11’s drubbing of Athenry

Our under 11’s were away to Athenry on Sat & started effectively with
Ronan O ‘Neill & Lorcan Molloy in command but found it difficult to
break down a 5 man Athenry rearguard.  Following some excellent set
pieces by Daniel Masterson & Daragh Murphy, defender Brian Connolly
stepped up at the back post to slot the ball neatly to the net on 20
mins.  Kieran Dowd also had the ball in the net before the break but
he was adjudged to be off-side.  In the 2nd half Colemanstown were
quickest out of the blocks with a Daragh Murphy header just inches
over the bar.  Soon afterwards, in a sparkling move, Daniel Masterson
crossed a whipping ball into the box for Daragh Murphy to slot the
ball into the corner of the net.  Conor O’ Neill & Kieran Dowd turned
the screw making it extremely difficult for Athenry when they cooly
took their opportunities while the hard working Brian Connolly made it
5-0 before full time when he combined well with Conor O’Neill to rifle
the net.  Ronan O’Neill, Lorcan Molloy, Conor O’Neill, Stephen Kelly &
Shane Lally, when introduced, formed a line of steel at midfield with
some powerful runs and they attacked with lots of menace on every
opportunity that came their way.  Final Score 5-0

Our ‘A’ team took on table proppers Galway Bohs in their league outing
and came away with a comprehensive 5-0 win with goals from Shane
Clancy, Conor Feeney (2), & Colin O’Grady (2).  Shane Clancy & Kenny
Duane were exceptional on both wings while Brendan Finnerty & Alan
Finn stormed the defense
