Under 14’s Colemanstown 1; St Bernards 0
Our u-14’s had a good 1-0 victory over neighbours Bernards in their
recent outing on Mon evening. Credit to St. Bernard’s for having the
pitch playable given the torrential rain all day & snow covering on
the pitch. Both teams equally shared the dominance in unbelievably
cold conditions with plenty of chances falling to both sides. The
only goal of the game came midway through the 2nd half when a long
range effort from Padraig Glynn fooled the Bernards keeper. Thanks to
Kara Mullins who came to the rescue once again!
Under 12’s Colemanstown 0: Ballisodare (Sligo) 2
Our u-12’s made the long trip to Sligo to take on Ballisodare in this
Connaught Shield quater final. Given the proximity to Strandhill the
wind was severe but our younsters battled well against it in the 1st
half, albeit, few chances were created by both sides. Ballisodare
went 1-0 up just before the break when our defence failed to clear
from a corner and the ball just bobbled over the line. In the 2nd
half Colemanstown had most of the possession but failed to break down
a resolute, well organised Ballisodare defence. They pushed forward
on every opportunity in search of the equaliser and so left gaps in
our defence but goalie Keith Connell made a string of super saves to
keep us in the game. Midfielders Ronan O Neill, Lee Murphy, Paul
Lally, Daniel Masterson & Conor O Neill when introduced in the 2nd
half, worked tirelessly all through. In the last few minutes of the
game we were caught when pushing forward to go 2-0 down . Man of the
match goes to Keith Connell who was simply terrific.. Many thanks to
