‘A’ Team dump Premier league side out of FAI Cup

Our ‘A’ team put in a good performance, holding out in the end and
forcing a victory to dump premier league side Corrib Rangers out of
the FAI Cup.  The diminutitive Conor O Grady was on the mark yet
again, on 20 mins when he shot from inside the box following good work
from Alan Finn.  John O’Brien had a chance to double the scoring
shortly afterwards but his effort was cleared off the line.  Conor O
Grady turned supplier for Colemanstown’s second as the inrushing Kenny
Duane sidefooted over the keeper’s head to make it 2-nil.  The city
side got one back with 7 mins to go but with Colemanstown’s backs to
the wall, they defended resolutely for the remainder of the game to
ensure they advance to the next round of the FAI Cup.  Niall Gelston
was solid in goal pulling off some fine saves while, Kieran Cannon,
just returned from injury & Alan Finn were superb in defence.  Conor O
Grady was full of his usual trickery at left midfield while John O
Brien was always a threat up front.

Our under 11’s suffered their 2nd league defeat to a stronger Corrib
Rangers outfit on Saturday.  They got off to a poor start and found
themselves 2-nil down after 20 mins.  Colemanstown responded well,
however, and fought hard to get back into the game.  They were
rewarded when James Barclay converted his well taken penalty after
Josh Lane was taken down.  Soon afterwards, Darren Brennan’s long
range effort from 30yards took a deflection for a fortuituous goal.
2-2 at half time.  It was tit for tat early in the 2nd half as Thomas
‘Mossy’ Carr & Shane Lally had decent chances for Colemanstown.
Corrib Rangers, however, broke the deadlock with a well taken
individual goal and sealed the points in injury time when it finished
4-2.  ‘Stand-in’ keeper Stephen Kelly did well while the steady
defending of Blaine Burke, Jack Hughes & Jack Kennedy was noticeable.
Conor O Neill & Josh Lane showed great trickery while James Moran,
Conor Flaherty, Liam Murray, Niall Mannion, Odhran Loughrey & Ali
Layton were instrumental when introduced.

Our B team lost 2-0 to Corrib Celtic

Our under 13’s put in a convincing all round display in their 5-nil
drubbing of Cregmore.  Aidan Monaghan put in a man of the match
performance, netting 4, while Lee Murphy was also on the scoresheet.

Congratulations to Padraig Pearses on their County Intermediate title
crown on Sunday last
