U12’s & U’13’s emphatic wins; Garry & Dee say ‘I will’

There is very little action to report on in our soccer news this week
as only our under 12’s & under 13’s are still in action.

Under 12’s had another emphatic win over Craughwell which ensures that
they maintain their lead at the top of the table. Both teams shared
equal 1st half possession even though Colemanstown played against a
stiff breeze.  Kieran Dowd & Conor O’Neill had the best 1st half
efforts but the Craughwell keeper was equal to the task to keep the
game scoreless at the break.  Colemanstown recommenced the 2nd half
with some great passing football & 10mins in, Ronan O’Neill broke the
deadlock.  Daniel Masterson, who has perfected his set-pieces so well
all year, took yet another superb corner for O’Neill to rise highest
at the back post.  5 mins later Kieran Dowd showed his usual trickery
when he weaved round the defender & the advancing keeper to slot the
ball neatly & cooly to the net following some trojan work from Stephen
Kelly.  The Colemanstown rearguard of Daniel Masterson, Davin
Costello, Jack Kennedy & Matthew Ruane were rarely troubled except for
a slight lapse in concentration towards the end when they were caught
napping and Craughwell were on hand to score a fortuituous goal to
ensure a nervous last 3 mins but they held out for a well deserved &
well earned 3 points.

Our under 13’s took on the might of Salthill Devon in Drom on Saturday
& were quickest out of the blocks thanks to Ronan O’Neill who showed
coolness personified in slotting the ball neatly away after a Lee
Murphy free kick.  Salthill Devon momentarily pressurised in search of
a quick equaliser  but Sean Murray was in excellent form between the
posts for Colemanstown.  Paul Lally & Lee Murphy turned the screw to
make it 3-0 while Salthill got 1 back in an attempt to make a game of
it.  The Colemanstown lads however, showed renewed energy & 2 more
through Paul Lally & Lee Murphy made it an excellent 5-1 win away from home.

The club congratulate A team manager Garry O Grady & his radiant bride
Deirdre Finn who were married in Kilronan Castle, Co. Roscommon at the
weekend.  An excellent weekend was had by all!!  We wish them both a
long, happy & fun filled life together.
