U21’s hit the revival trail but lose out to Colga 2-0

A relatively new age group in Galway soccer circles and for the first time ever, Colemanstown United this season field an U21 team which is made up of the old U11 team who featured so well in the 2010/2011 season with lads like Josh Lane, Conor O’Neill & Odhran Loughrey donning the green jersey for the first time in years. They had their first league outing away yesterday under the management of Mark Kirby and held their own for a long time until they ran out of ideas with 20mins to go when Colga found the opener followed by a 2nd not long before the 90mins to win 2-0.

Colemanstown, though were well up for this battle but only with the bare bones of a team. They had just 11 players while the injured Mossy Carr had to battle on through a hamstring injury. Colemanstown’s best chances fell to Lorcan Kelly who wasn’t too far off target from a Dylan Grady header while Geordan Kenny whacked the post from a corner while the rebound was stolen from the toe of Lorcan Kelly. Mossy Carr had a one-on-one chance but failed to finish while Josh Lane has a couple of near misses.

So at least 1 game under their belt for now…. but a few new players urgently required…… Send cv to Mark Kirby. Safe to say though some of these lads have exorcised the demons…..

Squad: Conal Docherty, Eoin Heavey, Conor Callaghan, James Barclay, Conor O’Neill, Lorcan Kelly, Mossy Carr, Geordan Kenny, Dylan Grady, Josh Lane, Shane Lally.
