Our U14s and U12 ‘B’s go Down to Tough Cup Opposition

Read the match reports below from our U14 and U12 ‘B’ games at the weekend.

SFAI SKETCHERS CUP U12 – Colemanstown UTD ‘B’ v Strand Celtic

Our U12 boys had a hard loss to Sligo side Strand Celtic who won 7-0 on Saturday. Colemanstown fought hard as a team but the Strand lads were too strong on the day. They dominated our B team from start to finish giving Colemanstown little time on the ball or time to string together some good passing movements as they were devastating from the outset. Like the U14’s these boys will learn more from defeat than they will in victory.

SFAI SKETCHERS CUP U14 – Colemanstown UTD v Tuam Celtic
Our U14s were defeated at home on Saturday against a very talented premier side in Tuam Celtic. Tuam started the brighter and went 2 up inside 15 mins. Colemanstown began to settle and came more into the game. Jason Rabbitte had a long range effort that went very close just after the half way mark in the first half. Fionn Flattery had a great game pulling off a couple of great saves to deny Tuam Celtic’s No.10. Tuam got two quick fire goals just before half time which put a gloss on the half time score.
Colemanstown rallied in the 2nd half and pulled one back after 10 mins. Jason Rabbitte got on the end of a Harry Mitchell pass to make it 4-1. The lads began to push forward and this resulted in gaps left in our defence. Tuam remained composed and were very clinical in the last 20 mins getting a further 3 goals.

It was a learning experience for this U14 group in what we hope they will gain a lot from. Best on the day for Colemanstown were Harry Mitchell and Jason Rabbitte.
