Over 35’s vs Skyvalley Rovers

Colemanstown O35s played Skyvalley Rovers in perfect playing conditions in Taughmaconnell on Friday night.
Similar to the last 2 outings the game started off at a frenetic pace with very little chances created for either side as the game was predominantly played in the middle third. Skyvalley took the lead on the 15th  minute mark as Colemanstown were a bit below par until this. Ross Sullivan and Adrian Burke gradually grew into the game and started to pull the strings at the back while Garry O’Grady in front of them halted waves of attack casting them by the seashore, writhing in the swash.
In the second half, Colemanstown changed formation and became the dominant team as they began to create a couple of chances particularly through Gerry Grady. The bench again was used to good effect with everyone getting game time. It was great to see the ever versatile and soccer smart Andy Concannon, creeping that bit nearer to 50 (oops Andy) making his first appearance for the O35s and well fit to assist in composing the team as he slotted in nicely into 3 different positions throughout the game.
Paul O’Connor’s late dramatic intervention ensured a share of the spoils as the game looked to be going away from the green army until O’Connor was upended and the ref pointed to the spot. O’Connor rose from the ground, shook off the shackles of the tackle, composed himself and stood over the peno which he superbly dispatched to provide a happy enough ending with a 1-1 share of the spoils. And the green army went bob, bob, bobbing down Taughmaconnell happily ever after. I’m sure there were a few sore bodies after this one as Skyvalley were a tough physical resilient team, hard to break down. The entire bench gave a huge effort to grind out the draw. O35’s next outing is this Wednesday evening when they take on Glen Celtic in Glenamaddy. KO 8.15pm.
