Nine different scorers on the mark for U13s

The scoreboard operator was far-and-away the busiest person in Colemanstown this morning as our U13s clocked what must be the biggest winning margin in the history of the club. 16-0 against neighbours St. Bernards was worth getting out of bed early for. Nine different Colemanstown lads found the net to give St. Bernards a baptism of fire. They burst into gear from the start scoring 8 in each half.  David Walsh opened the scoring with that deadly left foot of his while Tommy Mellody scored 4 (attributing the OG also to him as the ball looked to be on its way anyways!). Jonah Donnellan, Cilly Fahey and Cian Burke also added to the first half tally. 8-0 at half time.

Colemanstown continued to fire on all cylinders in the 2nd half as they showed little mercy scoring a further 8 goals through Tommy Mellody who struck for the 5th time; Cilly Fahey scored 2 more to claim his hat-trick, Jonah Donnellan, Ciárán Keating, Jonathan Keane & Eoin Keague also got on the scoresheet while centre back Luke Williams had the final say with a powerful drive from 8yards which the keeper got his hands to but the momentum of the ball carried it over the line. This heavy defeat nearly inspired all present to finish the match by playing ‘Next Goal Wins’ as one could almost hear Jayo Finn’s voice echo around the grounds, similar to that in Skehana training when one hears Jayo round up training with ‘Next Goal Wins Lads’

Cian Ruane in goals rarely touched the ball; defenders Eanna Burke, Luke Williams, Dara Scarry & Killian Hughes had to drive forward to get involved in the action. David Walsh takes a corner like no other, Ciárán Keating & Cian Buke were involved in almost every play in the centre of the park while Tommy Mellody on the right wing discovered great finishing with 5 goals to his credit. Up front Harry Mitchell had plenty of efforts on target but had an extremely rare scoreless game. Cilly Fahey got on the end of plenty of breaks as he showed Usain Bolt type qualities with his dashes on the flank. Eoin Keague & Johnny Keane were rewarded for their efforts with a goal apiece & Johnny was unlucky not to claim a 2nd while Larry Murajovs ably filled Jonah Donnnellan’s boots for the 2nd half.

This latest win keeps the U13’s unbeaten in the league with 3 wins out of 3 thus far. Well done lads on a great game.
