We definitely seen a bit of everything in Carraroe yesterday in a game which Colemanstown’s U12’s found themselves 2-0 down after 7 mins and yet turned things around to win 5-3 in a pulsating game. Both sides stood toe-to-toe in the first half but Colemanstown turned things around completely in the 2nd half, thanks to Jason Rabbitte. This was a goal feast, two by the hosts within 7 mins and eight in total between both sides.
The game started at a frenetic pace. McDara were like lightening off the blocks; their first goal came from their striker who ran through the heart of our defence before finishing well and their second came from a scrambled ball which was finished with ease from the edge of the box.
Colemanstown were soon back level at two all, thanks to late comer Jason Rabbitte who notched two in quick succession following his introduction. Thomas Mellody linked up with Harry Mitchell who sent in a through ball for Rabbitte to run on to and he held his nerve for a clinical finish. The equaliser came soon after as Rabbitte lobbed the keeper from all of 20yards to leave the score 2-2 at the break. In the 2nd half, Colemanstown took the game by the scuff of the neck, with their 3rd goal coming right from the start of 2nd half tip as Harry Mitchell tipped off to Rabbitte whose rasper of a drive lobbed the diminutive keeper from outside his own half way line. Jason himself scored direct from a free kick for Colemanstown’s 4th after he was taken down himself. The hosts showed their leaky defence in our last goal with a few involved in the build-up. Conor Laffey’s kick out was added to by a Cian Ruane flick-on to Harry Mitchell in midfield. Mitchell cut in across the end-line and passed to the unmarked Jason Rabbitte who was lurking at the near post and tapped home from close range for his 5th of the day. McDara clawed one back from the edge of the box with 5mins to play as they tried desperately to get back into the game but with Luke Williams in solid form, anchored by Ciárán Keating and Dara Scarry on either side of him, there would be no further leaks in our defence. Adam Cleary was a constant threat on the right of midfield while Jonathan Keane held his own on the opposite flank. Tommy Mellody got on plenty of ball while Jason Rabbitte & Harry Mitchell were up to their usual trickery up front. But the day belonged to 5 goal hero Jason Rabbitte as we all say ‘Hail King Jason’.
