Reserves: Colemanstown 3-3 Oranmore Maree

5mins to kick-off in Colemanstown and only 8 reserve players in sight. Ryanair flight delays, farming to be done, a late night after the Irish International game and a few other bits and bobs all adding to the problem. Thankfully, the referee waited 5 mins and 8 swelled to 14 players. The game started with Colemanstown well on top and dominated proceedings for the entire first half. 0-0 at half time but a feast of 2nd half goals to come, 6 in total.

Colemanstown went 2 nil down within 10 mins of the restart. Colemanstown’s fightback started soon after, as young Jack Barret who just turned 16 years, was introduced at half time. Barrett played a great ball to Garry Lally who had a bit of work to do to notch our first. Colemanstown who were beginning to excel, applied plenty of pressure on the visitors. Richie Lally swept in a corner for Lee Murphy to creep in at the back post and nod home the equaliser. Oranmore responded and after a scrappy spell in front of goal scored what looked like the winner. However, as the clock ticked down, Padraig Quirke became the hero as he headed home a Ray Moran corner as fans in the stand were seen waving pictures of Quirke’s head on cardboard such was their delight!  Massive credit to the lads from the A Team who played again less than 24 hours after the Tuam game

Team: John Gormally, Martin Walsh, Richie Lally, Garry O Grady, Steven Burke, Shane Lally, Padraig Quirke, Niall Cunningham, Geordan Kenny, Ray Moran, Garry Lally. Subs: Lee Murphy, Jack Barret, Enda Cunniffe.
