Sean Murray helps keep U11’s top of the table

Under 11’s:  Colemanstown 3: Ramblers 1

First placed Colemanstown took on 2nd placed Ramblers in this gripping encounter on Sat last. Colemanstown took this game by the scruff of the neck and were duly rewarded on 10 mins when Ronan O’Neill threaded an excellent ball through to Kieran Dowd who went on a surging run, keenly beat the offside trap and the advancing keeper to tuck the ball away nicely. Lorcan Molloy & Daragh Murphy combined well for the second goal when Kieran Dowd galloped clear down the centre and with calmness personified he slotted the ball neatly to the net. Just before the break the energetic Ronan O Neill made it 3-0 when he made a bursting run from midfield and rifled the roof of the net from close range. In the 2nd half Ramblers were making a spirited comeback but our rearguard, Daniel Masterson, Davin Costello, Matthew Ruane, Brian Connolly and Jack Kennedy, when introduced, were rock solid when under severe pressure for the entire 2nd half. Keeper Sean Murray made a string of super saves, following one fine save he released Kieran Dowd from the kick out who was subsequently pulled down, with the resultant penalty superbly saved by the Ramblers keeper. Ramblers got 1 back with 15 mins to go and Colemanstown were living on the edge when Ramblers were awarded a controversial penalty but man of the match Murray spread himself well to make an excellent save. Colemastown maintained their composure for the last few minutes for a convincing and crucial win and now sit proudly at the top of the table.
