Colemanstown ‘B’ 1; Oranbay 0
Our ‘B’ team maintained their recent positive momentum on Saturday when they beat Oranbay in the 1st round of the divisional Cup. Two evenly matched teams squared up to each other but Colemanstown got the fortuitous break midway through the 1st half following an exquisite piledriver from outside the box from the industrious Joe Finnerty. Colemanstown had few other chances in a tight game only for a few half chances from Barry Donnellan, Niall Dempsey & Ronan O’Grady. Colemnastown started the 2nd half a more composed outfit and pressed hard in search of a second goal to kill off the Oranbay challenge but the opportunistic moment did not come their way. Veteran Gearoid Rohan & Kerrill Lally were outstanding in defence while Barry Donnellan’s thwarting runs on the wing tormented the Oranbay defense. The ‘B’ team still remain unbeaten since Christmas and like, Liverpool, Pairic is adamant the Divisional Cup could yet be their’s.
