Men’s Div1 Cregmore/Claregalway 0-7 Colemanstown. With 14 games now played, our Men’s team remain 2 points clear of Barna na Forbacha at the top of the Div1 table following an emphatic home victory over Cregmore/Claregalway under lights on Friday night. After a competitive enough opening period, Colemanstown truly found their mojo in a superb second half display that produced a feast of goals & ultimately put the result beyond doubt. Once the scoreboard began to tick over, there was no stopping the Colemanstown lads as they surged clear with pace, precision & clinical finishing. Mossy Carr & Tiarnan Proulx both led the charge & both grabbed a brace of goals. Young Shane Quirke also struck twice in a powerful attacking performance while Kerrill Hardiman added another to cap off a dominant show in front of goal. The relentless second half surge ensured Colemanstown ran out comprehensive winners on the night.
Attention now turns to the next league outing, with a trip to face Galway Bohs in Millers Lane this Sunday: KO 11am as the Colemanstown lads look to maintain their position at the summit. Match Report: Martina Donnellan
U15 Boys: Div 2 Colemanstown 0-3 Cregmore /Claregalway. Our U15 boys played their last home league game against Cregmore/Claregalway and were beaten 3-0. The scoreline slightly flattered the travelling team as the lads just couldn’t get a break with some fine goalkeeping twarting their goal attempts. The deadlock was broken after a short backpass was pounced upon by the striker and a late tackle drew a foul. The resultant penalty was dispatched to make it 1-0 in favor of the visitors. A few subs were introduced and the boys played some good football at times with chances falling to Dermot Parker that just wouldnt go in to level the tie.
Into the 2nd half and again Colemanstown applied some pressure. Some chances fell to Liam O Connor, Oisin Nugent but desperate defending and a few good saves denied the lads. The 2nd goal effectively ended the game as a long clearance from the goalie split the static defence and the Cregmore/ Claregalway striker gave Aidan Quinn no chance in goal. One last effort from the Colemanstown lads created a chance for Dermot Parker who looked like he was bowled over in the box but penalty appeals were dismissed. The 3rd goal arrived with the last kick of the game after a well struck free ended up in the goal to give the visitors all three points. Next up is Friday night cup soccer under the lights against a strong Barna/Furbo side. Match Report: Alan Walsh
