‘A’ Team edge closer to safety

Our ‘A’ team maintained their unbeaten league form for 2012 when they put back to back wins together for the first time this season with a hard fought 3-1 victory over Tuam Celtic in Tuam on Sunday. Colemanstown opened the scoring early in the first half through Conor Feeney and were unlucky not to double their advantage before the break with a well worked move involving John O Brien and Kenny Duane which finished with Ronan Geraghty’s shot clipping the woodwork. Tuam equalised midway through the second half. With the points more valuable to Colemanstown, they pushed on for the winner. Ollie Crowe had a headed attempt come off the crossbar from a Kenny Duane delivery while Conor Feeney also narrowly missed the target from close range. Colemanstown’s persistence finally paid off on 85 minutes when John Keeley met a Ronan Geraghty cross on the half volley and riffled his shot to the top corner. That goal took the wind out of Tuam and John O’ Brien’s hard work was rewarded on 90 minutes when he seized on a defensive mix up to nod home the third for Colemanstown on the day. Our B team lost 2-nil to St Ellens while our u17’s received a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Kinvara. Just to remind everyone that the Colemanstown 10k run takes place this Sat. April 7th. Anyone who wishes to participate can register on www.runireland.com or on the day at the clubhouse in Colemanstown.
