Tough Day for Colemanstown’s U13 Girls & U15 Boys who fell to strong opposition

U13 Girls Championship: Colemanstown 1–8 Moyne Villa. On a cold wet Sunday morning, our U13 girls squad arrived full of smiles & spirit despite some recent tough results. Facing a strong Moyne Villa side, the game opened with a competitive battle in midfield as both teams fought to settle into the match. Moyne Villa broke the deadlock after 10mins & their momentum carried them to two more quickfire goals before the break which left Colemanstown trailing 3–0 at halftime.

The 2nd half saw the visitors add further goals but Colemanstown’s determination never wavered. Their hard work was rewarded with a superb team move: from tip-off Lauren O’Grady picked out Ava Forde, who delivered a brilliant cross to Lucy Burke Hardiman. Lucy struck the ball with power & precision to fire into the back of the net to the delight of her teammates & supporters. Despite more goals from Moyne Villa, whose physicality & standout players proved too difficult to contain; our girls battled right to the final whistle. The game ended 8–1 to the Headford side. While the result reflects the challenge of the encounter, the Colemanstown squad showed heart, work rate & resilience throughout against a team operating at a much higher level. Yet the girls never dropped their heads & played with admirable passion. Their attitude on a tough day was a credit to the team & their mentors.  Match Report: Ann Forde.

U15 Boys Div2: Colemanstown 3-6 Kinvara. Our U15 Boys came up against a very strong Kinvara side at home on Saturday. After some early pressure it was Kinvara who struck twice in a matter of minutes to knock the lads back, but to their credit they rallied back into the game and a rare left footed strike from Owen Hillary pulled a goal back to put us back in the game. But Kinvara responded well & scored to go 2- up and soon after a 4th arrived to leave the score 4-1 at half time.

Two goals in the second half from Dermot Parker wasn’t enough to reduce the deficit as Kinvara added two more to leave the final score 6-3 to the visitors. The boys to their credit worked hard through out the game and never gave up and hopefully will carry that attitude into the next game away to Athenry.  Match Report: Alan Walsh.
