2014/15 league formats announced

It feels like last season is only just over and here we go again…. As preparations for next season re-commence, the league format for the 2014/15 season have been communicated to all clubs by the Galway FA as follows:

Junior;
4 x Divisions and a reserve league
2 rounds in each Division. (Reserve League 1 Round) League to commence on Saturday 23rd August

3 Main cups to be played for; Michael Byrne Cup (Premier & 1st Div), Joe Ryan Cup (2nd & 3rd Div), Jack Lillis Cup (4th and Reserve).

Juvenile;
Competitive football will run from U12 to Youth, u9s/10s & 11s will play on a regional basis, this information will be advised at a later date by the Galway FA.
U12 will be 9 a side competition.
The Youth league will comprise of players in the 17/18 age group and will replace the 17 & 18 leagues which are now obsolete.

Where a League is 8 teams or less at time of affiliation/league creation it will be a two round league.
It will be an odds and evens system starting with odds on the weekend of Saturday 6th September. The fixtures will be visible from 23rd August on the Galway FA website and will be uploaded on a periodic basis on this website once available.
Odds will be 13,15 & Youth
Evens will be 12, 14, 16 & Youth
The entire season will be posted to the Galway FA website as soon as all divisions and leagues are created.

Underage Cups;
This will be an open draw for all league teams at each age group, with the 1st round winners remaining in the cup and the 1st round losers going into a shield competition. Premier teams will get a bye into the second round and therefore will not qualify for the shield competition.

Affiliations are to be sent to the Galway FA by close of business on July 31st as we look forward to a good healthy sporting season ahead.

Rule 62;
Application for postponements must be made in writing via email to the Galway FA office 10 days prior to the fixture, (verbal applications will not be considered) This is a strict rule and must be adhered to.
