‘Same ould story’ for B team

On learning the outcome of the B team’s fate away to Kinvara yesterday, a text reply was returned by the manager ‘same ould story’ and so it was, the same ‘ould story indeed. 1-1 it finished but our B team could have won by 4. Do we hear the Saw doctors playing quietly in the background… ‘to win just once, to win just once, that would be enough’. Call it cruel luck or whatever you like but Colemanstown dominated this game and had most of the possession but were just poor in front of goal. Kinvara scored on 20mins after some sloppy defending allowed their quick striker to run on to a loose ball and nipped in ahead of Adrian Burke in the Colemanstown goal for a clinical finish. Robbie Lally, Enda Moore, Joe Finnerty & Steven Broderick missed golden opportunities while new signing Finian Coone also hit the woodwork in the first half. 5 mins before the break however, our main man, aka Enda Moore scored an exquisite goal with as cool a finish as you’d see. A throw by Barry Forde to Joe Finnerty who found Robbie Lally and with some neat footwork chipped the ball through to Enda Moore on the right wing who coolly lobbed the advancing keeper from 20 yards. 1-1 at half time. Colemanstown had the breeze at their backs for the 2nd half and maintained most of the possession and maintained their starting formation 4-2-3-1 while most of the premiership teams emulated the same tactics yesterday playing the same formation in an attempt to keep pace with our B team’s modern system of play. Sean Walsh was introduced early in the 2nd half and was a constant threat running at the Kinvara defence on every opportunity. Enda Moore had a good early second half chance to add to the scoreline but his effort was driven wide. Barry Forde later scrapped his effort off the crossbar while Finian Coone was put through by Ross Sullivan but he drove his effort over the bar. Adrian Burke in the Colemanstown goal was well alert of any danger and responded superbly late in the game when he claimed the ball well in a crowded box to keep Colemanstown in the game. Although Colemanstown controlled this game, apart from Enda Moore’s genuine piece of quality all they had to show for it was near misses and chances squandered. But however, a win looks nearer than ever as the full squad featured well particularly Enda Moore who put in a man of the match display, Finian Coone who showed great depth and was full of running while Joe Finnerty got on plenty of ball. Kerrill Lally & Steven Broderick were solid in defence whilst Ross Sullivan, Sean Walsh & Tommy Kelly came off the bench to feature well. Team: A Burke; B Forde, K Lally, S Broderick, G Broderick, F Donnellan, P Moore, F Coone, J Finnerty, E Moore, R Lally. Subs used: R Sullivan, S Walsh, & Tommy K . Well done lads and keep an eye on WhatsApp for details of training and any other appropriate news.
